" Mediterranean Diet is Not So Healthy. It is only Politically Correct Diet "
MEDITERRAEAN DIET
"Don't dig your grave with your own knife and fork." English Proverb
Mediterranean Diet is one of the most popular diets of our times. Mediterranean plan was made by Ancel Keys. There are lots of pastas, breads, fruits, vegetables,
olive oil as a main source of fat, nuts, small amount of eggs and red meat, moderate amount of wine and cheese.
All groups of foods in this diet seem to be healthy for us but they are not. Instead of pasta which is rich source of carbohydrates we should put there animal fat.
Weston A. Price, D.D.S. (1870-1948) was a dentist and nutritionist. He visited all of the most important wild tribes around the world. Weston was interested in
their diet and general health. One of the easiest ways to determine someone's health is simply test of his teeth, Weston was a dentist. He was a very good nutritionist
as well.
How do you think what he concluded after examination of hundreds of wild people? The healthiest tribes ate almost only meat and fat diet, no health related problems at
all.
Tribes who ate lots of vegetables and fruits had many health related problems and were weak.
So like you can see saturated fat or generally animal fat is one of the healthiest foods which are available for us. After saturated fat is monounsaturated fat and last
one which is very dangerous for us in too high dosage is polyunsaturated fat which is found in all man-made products in big quantities.
Trans fats are the worst ones but they are unnatural so we can live them behind. If you don't eat man-made foods or overcooking your foods (meat, fat) you don't have to
worry about your health.
Why almost everyone these days is blaming animal fat for almost all of modern diseases? Inventor of Mediterranean diet is one of many responsible for that misunderstanding.
Traditional diet could be really good for us because there is plenty of an animal fat as well.
"New" Mediterranean Diet developed by Ancel Keys is "politically" correct so there is no place for animal fats or much of healthy red meats. This diet is based on Ancel
Keys' study called "the seven countries study" which was very popular long time ago. In fact Keys choose only countries which were accurate for his concept.
Today every good nutritionist or dietician know exactly how and why the study was prepared. There was simply a huge demand for "healthy diet" and a big hole in market.
In Traditional Diet was plenty of red meats and big variety of fish and fats.
Mediterranean Diet benefits are not so clear these days. It is true that this diet can lower your level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol while is able
to rise amount of your high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol but in 21st century it means completely nothing.
There is no longer BAD and GOOD cholesterol. This kind of reasoning is in past. We know that cholesterol MAY be only a marker of disease and not its source.
Anyway it is still better to be on Mediterranean Diet than on pizza, hamburger, chips and coke.
Healthy Foods Quote
..."Our food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food." Hippocrates
To Be Vegetarian, or Not to Be?
This is one of hottest questions these days. Vegetarianisms is now very popular, many people strongly believe that this is good way to go.
But vegetarianism is not encoded in our genes and we will never achieve optimal health and life span if our prime food will come only from plant world.
Food history not lying, if there was any possibility to get meat and fat it was always first choice food.
There is no point to stop eating of meats and animal fats. Of course we should eat only free range/grass fed and organic meats if possible (better mineral and vitamin content).
Red meat, game meat, poultry and fish and any other animal products are rich in minerals, vitamins, coenzymes and proteins.
If you want to be healthy and live long and happy life meat should be on your plate at least two times a week.
Of course there are some vegetarians in good shape but nothing is better than red meat proteins, coenzymes and minerals.
Weston Price while travelling around the world noticed that in areas where meat was quite easily available people were much healthier,
bigger and stronger than in other more veggie areas. That is fact from real life, not from laboratory.
Healthy Meat
Our human evolution and food history started about 7 million years ago and through all these years we were omnivores, plant and meat eaters.
In general we can say that our main food was meat (fatty and lean), fish, many greens and roots, some ripe and sour fruits
(not those sweet modern fruits loaded with sugars) and insects. Seven million years of meat eating is very long time,
we evolved on meat and fats!
